first_imgCategory: Hotel Industry Rising StarAward: Highly CommendedRecipient: Benjamin Hislop – Holiday Inn Sydney Airport More than 600 political, business and industry leaders gathered for the Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) gala awards last night, honouring the best in the hotel and hospitality trade.The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) were victors of five categories at the award ceremony, also boasting another seven highly commended recognitions.The TAA awards began in 2012 and were designed to increase public awareness of the hotel industry, and highlight the industry leaders who provide exceptional service across all aspects of the market.Some noteworthy awards that the IHG won include the Superior Accommodation of the Year and the Mid-range Accommodation of the Year awards.Accor hotels also came out on top, picking up six awards at the event.Mercure Sydney won the Redeveloped Accommodation Hotel of the Year, after recently unveiling a successful multi-million dollar refurbishment.Meanwhile, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth director of revenue, Jeremy Samuels, took home the title of Revenue / Yield Manager of the Year and Novotel Sydney Central scooped up two Employee of the Year awards.
