Public Security Ministry office assistant charged for robbery

first_imgAn office assistant attached to the Public Security Ministry was on Monday slapped with a robbery charge and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he was remanded to prison.Shaquille Duncan denied that on February 5, 2019, at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Steve Munroe called “Pablo” of a gold chain valued $360,000.The 25-year-old of Lot 1917 Willemstad Road, Festival City, Georgetown, stood before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.Prosecutor Quinn Harris objected to bail on the ground of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. The prosecutor also pointed out that a gun was used in the commission of the robbery.According to the prosecutor, the defendant and the Virtual Complainant had a scuffle after he grabbed the chain by which time public-spirited citizens were able to assist the victim.During the botched robbery, Duncan was allegedly shot by his accomplice.Reports are, Duncan was shot to his left arm by his partner, who fired several shots as public-spirited persons helped the VC. The accomplice managed to escape, leaving Duncan and the gun at the scene.In court on Monday, the Prosecution contended that on February 5, at about 16:35h, the VC was hanging out on Mandela Avenue and Plaza Bridge when two men who were armed with a gun approached him and snatched his gold chain.After listening to the prosecution’s facts, the Magistrate remanded Duncan to prison. The case will continue on March 4, 2019.last_img
